For couples who have been working with lawyers but want to avoid contested court proceedings, we offer an intensive, one-day mediation session where:
- Both parties and their lawyers collaborate in focused negotiations.
- A neutral mediator helps balance perspectives and highlight strengths and weaknesses in each position.
- You benefit from legal guidance while working toward a fair agreement.
While this approach requires additional legal support, it is highly effective for reaching settlements efficiently, saving time and reducing legal costs in the long run.
Government-Subsidized Mediation
Quebec residents may qualify for free mediation services.
The Quebec government offers subsidized mediation services for separating couples:
- Five (5) hours of free mediation for couples with dependent children.
- Three (3) hours of free mediation for couples without dependent children.
- 2.5 additional hours for parents needing to modify an existing agreement (e.g., child support recalculation, custody adjustments, or vacation schedules).
